Meet The Baldwin Dream Team's Top-Producing Associates, Tamima Friedman, Nancy Chu & Dina Gruenfeld.
A 3-time RE/MAX 100% Club member for sales volume, Tamima Friedman joined the Team 4-plus years ago. After spending 10 years in Asia, including stints in Japan and Hong Kong, Tamima settled in Montclair in 1996, where she has owned two lovely homes, including a 120-year-old Victorian, which she recently finished renovating. A professional writer and music critic who studied piano at Oberlin and the mother of two teenage girls, Tamima sings with the Oratorio Society of New Jersey and sits on the board of Essex Youth Theater. She has also served as a coordinator for the Purple Dragon Organic Food Coop. Having lived around the world, she understands the importance of providing her clients with a high level of service in their search for the perfect house. Kudos for Tamima Friedman: "Tamima, Sending this letter to tell you how much I appreciate you and everything you have done in locating the perfect home for our new family. We all love the house! I truly and sincerely appreciate the time and energy you devoted to us and our search. Rather than the whole house hunting/purchasing experience being the arduous grind I expected it to be(based on a few brief experiences I had with sales agents prior to contacting your agency) you made the proccess a truly enjoyable experience. Your thorough knowledge of the Northern New Jersey market and all the variations between towns, and even the subtle differences between the neighborhoods within the towns, was remarkable and on point. You were direct and forthright, which I REALLY appreciate. You were energetic and enthusiastic about your work. You listened to what I wanted and needed and acted accordingly. You showed us dozens of houses that were 'right' for us but never pressured our decision. You are very pleasant and fun to be around. You represent yourself and your agency very well. Again, we truly appreciate you and all of your hard work on our behalf." Sincerely, D. Fisher ************************* "We really love the house and, in retrospect, I REALLY appreciate your savvy and aggressiveness in the contract negotiations. I was shopping for a home for a VERY LONG time and it was like you just listened to what I said and knew what I wanted. The neighborhood is beautiful; I have wonderful neighbors. (My next door neighbor has lived at his house for 50 years, he keeps me up to date on the town)...We are very appreciative of the way things played out." Thanks, M. Meade ************************* "Dear Tamima: Thank you very much for your vivid picture of the property we were looking at. You are a great realtor. I appreciate that you did what you said you would do and that you listened to and understood what my concerns and questions are. My wife and I have been flipping houses since 1968, and I’ve been full time at it since 1982 so I’ve worked with many agents, unfortunately most of them just don’t understand what I’m trying to do. You don’t even know me yet you were right upfront telling about the things that the house needs and not trying to hide anything. You are one of a kind and I mean that in only the best way." Best, Bob & Family

Nancy S. Chu joined the Baldwin Dream Team in 2005 from New York University School of Medicine’s Department of Ophthalmology, where worked as an administrator for 6 years. As a Stage Director, Nancy has been visible in New York and regionally since 1995, where she had the privilege of working at The Public Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre, The Lucille Lortel Foundation, Columbia University, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Second Stage Theatre, and The Culture Project, to name a few. She serves as the Associate Artistic Director for Isadora Productions, and is a member of both the Women’s Project & Productions and the Lincoln Center Theatre Directors Lab. Nancy, who is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, cultivated a love for real estate when she helped her parents find the perfect home in Tennessee at age 16, and has not been able to stop following the real estate market since, owning co-ops and condos in the New York City; an Upstate NY cottage she and her husband built themselves; her first NJ home, in Maplewood; and her current South Orange carriage house. Her own fascination with real estate and her stong professional administrative background create the strong mix of skills Nancy applies to the task of assisting buyers and sellers with their real estate needs. Nancy is a member of RE/MAX's 100% Club for sales achievement. Married and the mother of a toddler son, Nancy is a tireless worker for her clients. Kudos for Nancy Chu: "You really are the dream agent. It was impossible to tell that you had just started in the business when you helped us find our first home. You are incredibly organized and focused and you endured all our little quirks as we looked at countless homes before having you find us the perfect one. Many, many thanks for all your support. We look forward to working with you again...and again...and again." Best wishes, The Rileys | | | Sidney Simon
Born and raised in Bronx, New York, Sidney Simon moved to Atlanta, GA as a teen and later attended Clark Atlanta University, majoring in Communications. As a human resources specialist, Sidney worked for Oxford Industries, the apparel company, and most recently, SunTrust Bank, where she was Compliance Manager responsible for developing and nurturing vendor relationships with regulatory agencies and accounting and consulting firms. "I have a knack for creating and building partnerships. My passion for real estate was sparked from personal investing but before long I noticed I was a natural at connecting buyers and sellers." Sidney held her Georgia real estate license with Keller Williams before relocating in 2007 to Montclair, NJ and RE/MAX with her husband Jonathan, an investment banker for Citigroup, and her two young children. "I looked for a home here for almost year, both on the internet and by periodically visiting with Roberta Baldwin, now my team leader. Our thorough travels through many of the Essex County towns we cover was a wonderful introduction to the area and a great plus for launching my real estate career in NJ." Born in New York City and raised in Brooklyn Heights and Montclair, Nick Baldwin, after attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan, spent several years in NYC & Los Angeles working as an actor and personal trainer before returning to New Jersey in 2005. Since 2007, Nick has also been a member of The Baldwin Dream Team at RE/MAX Village Square, specializing in rentals, condominiums, and first-time homebuyer sales. New Jersey native Sam Anderson joined The Baldwin Dream Team in 2006 after several years at RE/MAX Village Square and, before that, Weichert Realtors in Upper Montclair and past employment in technology-related jobs. Sam is The Baldwin Dream Team's transaction-processing manager. Additionally, he is a specialist in investment and multi-family real estate opportunities throughout North-Central NJ.

Real Estate Contracts >Should You Read Every Word
Buying a house involves a lot of paperwork. There can be several pages to the contract itself, plus the various addendum and contingencies. If you apply for a loan, there will be another stack of documents at the closing table. Although your real estate agent reviews the transaction, it is extremely important that you understand the papers you are signing.
If a dispute arises, the outcome will be governed by how the contracts actually read, not what you thought your real estate agent told you when you signed them. To avoid confusion, it is a good idea to pick up copies of the purchase agreements and closing papers ahead of time. This will allow you to read them at your leisure, without the pressure of several people waiting for you to read everything at the closing. Don't hesitate ask questions if you don't understand something or if the language is ambiguous or confusing.
